It is that time of year again where we say goodbye to our graduates as they finish their time here and move on to the next chapter of their lives. We are proud to announce the College of the Arts valedictorian, salutatorian, and graduating class of the 2025-2026 school year!
Our college valedictorian is Johana Florian, who will be graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Dance. She had this to say about being selected, “I never expected to be chosen as Valedictorian. I just worked hard, showed up, and gave what I had. Dance taught me to be confident in myself, to lead and create community, and to show up with discipline and passion. The journey hasn’t been easy, but I wouldn’t change it—because it has shaped who I am.”
Our salutatorian, who will be carrying our college banner in the procession, is Alyssa Thurman, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Digital Film. “You know this being salutatorian and this moment means a lot to me, I feel like I worked hard to get here. I’m thankful for all the experiences, and the people that supported me through. And although it also feels like the end of a chapter I know it’ll lead to so many more,” she commented.
We are so proud of our graduates! If you would like to support them at commencement, our ceremony is on Wednesday, May 6, 2026. It will be in the M. Anthony Burns Arena with overflow in the Eccles Fine Arts Center. The arena doors open and the graduate lineup starts at 1 p.m. with the processional starting at 1:45 p.m., and the ceremony commencing at 2 p.m. The livestream can be watched here.
