Dr. Tara Field began her academic career in Rome, Italy, where she completed her undergraduate degree in Italian Studies. In Italy she also spent time studying art history and conservation in Perugia and Florence before going on to complete her MA in Art History and Visual Culture in London, England. Dr. Field spent several years working in museums, galleries and auction houses in New York City before moving on to complete her doctorate at the University of California in Santa Cruz.
Dr. Field’s research explores how materiality shapes devotional practices and cultural identity. She is passionate about creating active learning experiences that foster curiosity, critical thinking, and meaningful engagement with art history.
